I’ve been trying to get back on track and make sure I get enough water. I usually drink 2 cups of coffee in the morning then for the rest of the day all I drink is water. Sounds great right? Well if your like me you will go through the whole day and at the end realize I have only drank 1 glass of water. Not so good when your trying to keep yourself hydrated. There are so many signs that let you know when you are dehydrated, you start getting cramps, have that thirsty feeling, skin feels extra dry, muscles feel tight and tense…. and the list goes on and on.
When I haven’t drank enough water, I can tell in so many areas. The biggest area I notice is cramps. One thing that really irritates me is to wake up in the middle of the night with leg cramps! I come jumping out of the bed faster than a Jack Rabbit. I quickly try to stretch and rub it out then think oh Nanette you let yourself get dehydrated again. Drink more water! You would think that alone would keep you conscious of drinking water. But by not drinking enough water you are missing out on so much more than hydration. Drinking water throughout the day offers so many health benefits. Think of it as a nutrient that your body needs.

Here are some tips and what I do to help me drink my water. Pick a cup that you really like to carry around with you all day. My favorite color is pink so of course I have a 24oz pink cup with flowers on it that I carry around and refill throughout the day. I also keep a water drinking log in my planner. It has little water droplet pictures that I color in each time I drink a full cup of water. I like it because I like to color and I like seeing the accomplishment that I have made in my planner. You could also get a 32oz water bottle and fill it up 4 times a day.
Try this for a week and let me know how you do.
